Town Hall

storm update

The Transfer Station will be open on Wednesday's and Saturday's with extra help to aid residents in cleaning up from the ice storm.  Brush and limbs of any size may now be brought  in and residents will be assisted in dumping the materials BEHIND the recycling area for later chipping and removal of the chips to be recycled into fuel through Bark Pro of Plaistow.  Thank you to Bark Pro for providing this free service to the Town of Greenland.

A HUGE thank you to the  volunteers of the Greenland  Fire Department, Emergency Management Director Ken Fernald, the Greenland Police Department and the many others that put in countless hours during the storm.

WInter parking ban

As much as we have enjoyed a true Fall this year, it is time to remind residents that off-street parking is not allowed during the winter. The Board of Selectmen's ordinance prohibits overnight parking on any street between November 1 and April 30th during the hours of Midnight and 6:00 AM.  During a snow event, the Chief of Police or any Police Officer of the Greenland Police Department may cause any vehicle parked on the street that hinders snow removal to be removed at the owners expense and a monetary fine may be issued.

To assist the plowing contractor and help avoid damage to your mailbox -it would be helpful if residents added reflector posts near their mailbox or other obstruction that may be adjacent to the road.  Unless there is negligence on the contractor's part, the town is not responsible for damage to mailboxes or lawns within the town's right-of-way.

transfer station

Containers are currently available for electronics and bulky goods.  Only ONE LOAD of bulky waste may be brought to the Transfer Station per week.  This is a service intended to assist residents with small projects.  If you have are remodeling and have construction debris you need to make arrangements for a private dumpster for disposal.  The containers will remain at the Transfer Station for a few more weeks - they need to be removed during the winter for snow removal.

census jobs / testing

The U.S. Census Bureau will be conducting applications and testing for employment here at the Town Office on Wednesday Jan. 7, 14th, 21st and 28th at 10:00 AM.  The testing process takes approximately one hour and applicants must have two forms of ID with them.
